Hello everyone!
My name is Mitch and I am running for the Athletics & Recreational Year Representative position. I attended the University of Guelph majoring in Psychology: Brain and Cognition before landing here at the University of Toronto.

Although I may not be an Olympian, I love to dip my feet in every sport ranging from volleyball (my favourite!), baseball, swimming, skiing, basketball, soccer, football, track and field, tennis, and badminton. I am most passionate about sports that build teamwork - good practice for our nursing careers!
After speaking to a couple of you about intramurals, there were common barriers that I'd like to address to make intramurals more accessible for everyone. The most common barrier was concerns about "not being very good" at a particular sport.
To address this:
1. At the start of each sport, the rules will be explained.

2. Everyone can submit information regarding their level of experience with a particular sport and teams will be formed based on this information. Teams can either have members who have varyingly levels of experience or teams can have members with the same level of experience and they will only play against teams with the equal level of experience.

3. we can have a mixture of games where score is either kept or not kept and you can decide which ones you'd like to attend. I'd also like to arrange games where students play against faculty members and trips for sports that are not readily accessible at our campus (e.g. skiing).
I am also up for suggestions of non-conventional sports (did you know that Quidditch is an actual sport played at some universities?) because it is always fun to learn together.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blurb!
