EMMA PRAYSNER
My name is Emma Praysner, and I’m running for the Equity Coordinator position. I graduated back in 2015 from the University of Guelph with a BSc in Biomedical Science. During my time at Guelph, I worked under the Central Student Association as the Clubs Coordinator so I have a decent amount of experience working with different organizations and student unions. I also volunteered with a local LGBTQ2S+ support line and provided anti-oppression training to interested organizations, as well as providing educational health presentations with HIV/AIDS Resources & Community Health (ARCH). I’ve lived in Toronto for the past couple of years, and most recently worked with South Riverdale Community Health Center as a Toronto Public Health Diabetes Peer Educator, specializing in the connection between mental health and diabetes and how to empower those living with both to take control of their wellbeing and healthcare. I want to work with NUS to help make not only our program more equitable and accessible to underserved groups, but also provide us with educational opportunities so that we can provide culturally competent and equitable care to our clients as future nurses. I also want to work with YOU to see what you need in this program to succeed, and if there are any barriers to your success or even just any educational equity programming you’d like to see. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to serve you as the Equity Coordinator for NUS!
