Hello, my name is Karlie Lynn Wood. I have had the pleasure of meeting many of you and I look forward to meeting the rest of you in the coming weeks!
I am super excited to be running in the upcoming election to be your University of Toronto Students’ Union (UTSU) First Year Representative. As some of you may know, UTSU is the voice for the 41,000 University of Toronto students – they advocate for the issues that are most important to the student population. In addition to being a voice for the students, UTSU provides many important services and organizes major events throughout the academic year.
My involvement with the Admissions and Student Recruitment Office prepared me well for this opportunity and shaped my understanding of running an organization that serves thousands. During my undergraduate degree, I worked as an Admissions Assistant and as a Student Recruitment Assistant. Therefore, I have spent hours learning about UTSU and other important organizations on campus. I am very excited to share what I have learned.
If elected, I will continue to learn more about the ways that UTSU can benefit us as nursing students, and I promise to be an impactful resource. I will uphold the missions of the Nursing Undergraduate Society and UTSU and contribute to projects that improve the livelihoods of all students.
I hope that you will consider electing me to be your UTSU First Year Representative.
