Hi everyone! I’m Sandra and I’m running to be your IPE representative! I’m running for this position because I believe that learning to work as an interconnected team is vital to providing quality healthcare. Especially in a time where we are all
socially distanced, we need to put in intentional effort to learn from all the perspectives we will be working with, so that each profession’s strengths are best utilized!
During my undergraduate degree at Western University, I worked in many team settings. I started a club that focused on disadvantaged women’s issues which gave me the opportunity to work with local community leaders, university organizations,
and diverse groups of students! Additionally, I worked at an eye clinic for 3 years where I participated on a team of optometrists, doctors, opticians, and assistants, striving to improve patient care.
From these experiences, the benefits of strong interprofessional relationships became clear to me – they provide a holistic view of the issues at hand, while presenting varied perspectives to tackle them from.
As we get to know each other over the next two years, I hope to best represent your opinions and experiences as they relate to nursing. As your IPE representative, I would love the opportunity to voice our perspectives and goals as future nurses in the
next generation of the healthcare team!
