Hello hello! My name is Rebecca and I am hoping to be one of the second year global health representatives! I have always been super interested in healthcare and in more recent years found a passion for global health through my health minor in undergrad.
My interest in global health is both close to home and further abroad. Growing up I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time in Northern Ontario and this fostered an interest in Indigenous health and health systems in more remote settings. As well, in undergrad I had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program with the University of Havana with a focus on the Cuban healthcare system. It was such an incredible learning experience and solidified my interest in global health.
Global health is such a vast field with a quick pace of change that definitely keeps us on our toes in learning.
I would love to try to incorporate a student-led approach to deciding topics of interest, for example, the climate crisis and health, and then help to create cool opportunities for learning and involvement within this complex field. I’m always down to chat about anything global health (and anything in general!) and think there is an incredible opportunity here at Bloomberg to learn from each other and from some experts!
Overall, I would be so jazzed to be one of the global health reps and can’t wait to see all of you in September!
