1. Mikaela Breadner
My name is Mikaela and I am running for the IPE first year representative position. I believe that when a healthcare team works together in a constructive and positive environment, the care that is provided to patients and clients is optimized. After learning about the integration of inter professional education at the University of Toronto I became very interested in the idea behind building relationships with our future colleagues in various health care fields, to initiate the growth of these relationships.
In my Biomedical Science undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, I gained experience from my position as a volunteer coordinator for the Circle K Club. I organized volunteer initiatives in the community and motivated individuals with similar passions to attend. Furthermore, in my most recent job experience as a lifeguard supervisor a large aspect of the job was facilitating the communication between management and employees. I gained many strategies in ensuring that both sides felt heard and appreciated by the other and I hope to bring these experiences to the IPE first year representative position.
